Madam, - Arising from the proposal to transfer Dublin Port to Bremore and redevelop the existing port area for residential and commercial use two interesting questions come to mind:

1. Will the Port Tunnel be finished in time to be moved to Bremore?

2. Will the buildings to be constructed in the present port area be built on stilts, in view of the rising tide levels expected from global warming - or will it be necessary to construct a levee in the bay? - Yours, etc,

Madam, - Not alone is north Co Dublin to be the site of a "superdump" and a "superprison", it is now proposed that Dublin Port be relocated to Bremore.

Let's overlook the fact that both the road and rail networks of this area already operate beyond capacity; that Bremore is the site of five upstanding passage tombs (which possibly predate those of the Boyne valley) and the 17th-century port of New Haven; or even that such a port would have dire implications for the unspoilt coastline. Perhaps the "broadly supportive" Taoiseach could answer me this: why build the Dublin Port Tunnel? - Yours, etc,
