Sir, – I commend David Gwynn Morgan (Opinion, November 23rd) for his measured analysis expressing concern at the President’s recent interjection into national politics.
At this time of some division in our country it is vital to the public good that the office of President remain above the political fray and is able to function as a rallying point for all our citizens.
The President’s recent comments risk inflicting lasting damage on his term of office by suggesting that he holds partial views on a matter which divides many of his citizens and on the outcome of which he may he called upon later to adjudicate. – Yours, etc,
