Sir, - There have been calls recently from various public figures for restraint in pay demands by wage earners. These might endanger the Celtic Tiger, the argument goes.

Who has done well out of the recent economic developments in Ireland? The Celtic Tiger - who is he? Banks and large corporations have done well. A few privileged and well-connected individuals seem to have done well, judging by recent leaks, scandals, tribunals, enquiries.
