Sir, I think it's a pity that the new 32p stamp from An Post describes Louie Bennett as a "trade unionist and suffragette". The term "suffragette seems patronising: "suffragist" would surely have been better. Fowler's Modern English Usage describes "suffragette" as "a facetious formation, now of only historical interest" - Yours, etc.,
