Sir, - I have reviewed the details of the package proposed by the Department of Health and the Alliance of Nursing Unions. I am bewildered as to why the unions are recommending members to accept this pay offer.
The package obliges a newly registered nurse to start on a lower salary, and ensures that he/she will practice nursing longer in order to reach his/her maximum salary. Is the purpose of a union not to improve the incomes and working conditions of its members? Yours, etc.,
