Madam, - Today I have heard the thunderous sounds of no fewer than six helicopters in the skies above me, starting at 8.30am.
The last one was especially low and loud and - as if making sure I registered it was there - it looped overhead twice before heading towards the city.
Ireland has the highest per capita ownership of helicopters in Europe. Aside from the obvious depressing implications for the environment, are we simply to allow those who can afford such machines to buy them, without any thought for those who live on the ground below?
Is this noise pollution only going to get worse? Don't we have enough clattering, banging, beeping and revving to keep our ears occupied between 7am and 7pm? - Yours, etc,
