Sir, There is no legal right to march in the law of Northern Ireland, nor in European Law, nor in the European Conventions of Human Rights, nor in international law, nor in international conventions on human rights.
Nor in any of these codes of law is there a right to a "traditional route or road" to march upon.
have had this matter investigated by legal experts and it was duly reported to the North Commission.
It is annoying to hear various spokesmen talking about the "legal right to march" when no such thing exists. It is essential that those who give the police 2 days' notice of marching (too short it should be two months!), should be obliged to publish notice of intention to march in the public press at their own expense to advertise to the majority of people that they intend to disrupt their business and their recreation and their right to drive within the law.
I am sorry that the North Report ignored both of these remarks and recommendations, which are essential. - Yours, etc.,
Dungannon,
Co Tyrone.
