Sir, - I read your article headed "Order's 80,000 members bound by oaths", (April 5th) with some interest.
May I point out a fundamental error in this article? Orangemen are not bound by "oaths". The opposite is in fact the case. The following is taken from the general laws of the "Constitution Laws and Ordinances of the Loyal Orange Institution of Ireland". Law 1: "The Loyal Orange Institution consists of an unlimited number of Protestant Brethern, whose admission is not regulated by taking, subscribing or assenting to any oath, or any illegal test or declaration." - Yours, etc
