Sir, - I agree that the No vote owes more to emotion than it does to logic. However, the response of the majority of those who bothered to vote was understandable given the patronising attitude of the Government and the rest of the Establishment (including yourselves).
In general this was personified by the arrogant dismissal of all contrary views as xenophobic, unscrupulous misrepresentations and in particular was typified by the supercilious countenance of An Taoiseach as he rubbished the sincerely held views of Bishop Boyce.
The "more in sorrow than in anger" tone of your Editorial (June 9th), is unlikely to win many converts. - Yours, etc.,
