Sir, - The declaration by EU leaders that the Nice Treaty ratification process will continue, and that the treaty will not be renegotiated, is a direct insult to the Irish Government and the Irish electorate. We cannot claim to have even one shred of sovereignty remaining if our democratic decisions are not respected. Where is closer EU integration leading us if the decision of the electorate is swept aside as if it were of no consequence whatsoever? - Yours, etc.,
