Sir, Mary Cummins in her as usual excellent article, entitled "A New Year, a new round of attacks on Women" (January 11th), makes a number of interesting comments, to which I wholeheartedly subscribe. She says that our "country is critically out of control," that "it is politically, morally and spiritually leader less and rudderless."
I couldn't agree more, Mary. But you know, many of us out there have seen this coming. We've been breaking our necks, our backs and our bank accounts (those who had them) in our efforts to warn the women of Ireland about the black hole they were digging for themselves by promoting the liberal agenda. Over and over again, I am on record as saying that this agenda was/is anti woman, anti child, anti society.
Mary asks why my fax machine has been quiet this week. She asks why there is no clamour for the Dail to be reconvened. Mary actually answered her own question early on in her article when she pointed out that "the only politics practised (in Ireland today) is that which belongs to balancing the accounts," pulling political strokes and piling up brownie points, in order to con the public into believing that they, the politicians, are doing something which entitles them to hold on to their seats in the next election.
Demanding the recall of the Dail might be politically correct and even personally advantageous, but it would be a futile exercise (I'm not into gathering brownie points). Yes, I've done all the protesting, marching writing. But rest assured, it isn't weariness that has kept me silent on this occasion. No way. There is too much at stake.
I and many others have decided to take more positive action. We have now formed a new political party the National Party. We are currently formulating policies which we will place before the electorate at the next general election. We believe that the plain people of Ireland, men, women and children must be put at centre stage in our national plan, not economics, book balancing and political correctness. As leader of the National Party, I will ensure that the voice of the plain people of Ireland will be heard and acted on. Yours etc Leader, National Party, Dalysfort Road Salthill, Galway.
