Madam, - As a young German student currently living in Ireland I want to express my agreement with the words of President Johannes Rau as reported in your edition of November 10th.
Undoubtedly minorities are important for Germany's society and economy. There was a time when computer experts were needed and the Germans were welcoming foreigners. Now the neo-Nazis are trying to suppress minorities because they think they take away the jobs and houses of Germans.
But haven't the foreigners helped Germany? I think it is important to understand people from different countries and see that foreign people are not really that different from your own. The neo-Nazis should think about this but so should all other Germans - as well as people in other countries, because Europe and the world are growing together more and more. - Yours, etc.,
