Sir, - The map accompanying your report on the Waterford bypass motorway (The Irish Times, June 3rd) was quite incorrect.
It showed Mount Congreve Gardens abutting the motorway route decided on by Waterford County Council last July, a route which council officials are now trying to have the councillors reject.
In fact this route runs at its closest one-third of a mile from the gardens, the only part of the Mount Congreve estate which is being left to the State, although it does run between 20 and 55 yards from the homes of four of our members.
The alternative route now favoured by the council officials runs even closer to family homes in the area. - Yours, etc.,
Peter Griffin, Chairman, Butlerstown Residents' Action Group, Dooneen, Co Waterford.
