Sir, - Before the end of Tony Blair's Presidency of the European Union, it is very much expected that he will sign Articles One, Two and Three of the European Charter for Minority and Regional Languages. At least, it is almost certain that he will do this in relation to the status of Welsh and Scots Gaelic.
If for some reason or other, Mr Blair excludes the status of Irish within Northern Ireland, he will be flying fin the face of the Good Friday Agreement and the resounding "yes" of the referenda. Let us hope when he comes to signing Articles One, Two and Three that once again "the hand of history" will guide him. - Is mise, Gabriel Rosenstock,
