Madam, - May I refer to the Irish Times Magazine of October 25th in which Orna Mulcahy writes a piece on "The Frazzled Hostess"? Very amusing; yes, we have all gone through this sort of situation, myself included.
But what I object to very strongly is her use of the precious word "Jesus", especially the way it is spelt "Je-sus", in such an irreverent way, taking the name of our Lord and Saviour in vain. Then later, near the end, she writes, "and Christ, they forgot the ice".
Why put in His Holy Name at all? No need whatsoever. Why is blasphemy considered to be necessary, or clever?
I have also noticed that your columnist Kevin Myers has been known to write "Christ Almighty" in his column. Not necessary, Mr Myers. - Yours, etc.,
