Sir, - I am very proud at what Michelle Smith has been able to accomplish thus far at the Olympics. Three golds, and the shot at another today, could make her the most decorated female athlete at a single Olympic Games in history.
One thing bothers me about the coverage of her accomplishments - must so much emphasis be placed on her marketability following the Games? Her ability to turn gold (medals) into gold? This seems to me to be a slap in the face of the Olympic ideal. - Yours, etc,
