Madam, - On Thursday, January 20th, speed limits went metric. That evening I left Merrion Square by car at 5 p.m. and reached Butt Bridge, a distance of 1.5 kilometres away, an hour-and-a-half later. My average speed was 1 kilometre per hour and at times I tipped speeds approaching 1 mile per hour in Pearse Street.
