Madam, - Senator David Norris writes (December 22nd) that "we have learnt that it is usually better to ignore Mr Myers and his column". May I be permitted to ask the good senator who "we" are? Does Mr Norris speak on behalf of all those who read Kevin Myers without so much as consulting them? Or is it Mr Norris's coterie of left-wing friends and students? Or is Mr Norris using the royal "we"?
It may be news to Senator Norris but "we", the very many supporters of Kevin Myers, rejoice that The Irish Times has a talented journalist who opposes those who are undermining democracy in our own backyard. And may I ask the assertive senator: if indeed Mr Frank Connolly is innocent, why doesn't he tell us where he was in April 2001 - a question Brian Morris poses in the same Letters page?
I can't claim to speak for your readers, but I have "written off" Senator Norris a long time ago and particularly "ignore" his silly anti-American views on Iraq, whose people just overwhelmingly voted to establish democracy thanks to the presence of Uncle Sam. - Yours, etc,
JOHN ROCHFORT, Grantstown Close, Waterford.
