Sir, - The article by Frank MacDonald in The Irish Times on January 5th may have given a misleading impression that Community Technical Aid (CTA) or their clients, the Markets Area Combined Residents Organisation (MACRO), favoured of the establishment of an alternative authority in the markets area. CTA and MACRO regard Dublin Corporation as the appropriate and legitimate authority for the planning and development of the markets and surrounding area.
A "partnership" as a separate entity was not advocated by CTA on behalf of MACRO. Instead, a partnership approach under a discussion forum on which the three sectors of business, statutory and community/NGO was represented which would input ideas to the formulation of the Dublin Corporation Action Plan.
