Madam, – All of us, not just the clergy and religious, share in the responsibility for this terrible tragedy

Madam, – All of us, not just the clergy and religious, share in the responsibility for this terrible tragedy. Of course we did not know, but we should have known. These unfortunate women are indeed our sisters and neighbours. The commandment is to “Love Our Neighbour”. Let us immediately make whatever inadequate amends we can now.

But also let us be vigilant of what could be happening today. In our present great concern for our economy, we may be failing others now. It’s a call to be awake now and Fr Patrick McCafferty (June 13th) and The Irish Times should be commended for this important reminder. – Yours, etc,
