Sir, – The huge legal cost of Irish clerical abuse (Front page, September 9th) sadly serves to underline the old adage regarding an “ill wind”. As I read the article, which contains the words Christian, Mercy, Charity, Immaculate and Good Shepherd; I found myself wondering to what extent our ability to recognise these qualities has been damaged and why life should deliver us such a perverse irony? – Yours, etc,
