Madam, – Keith Duggan’s excellent article on Harold Larwood and the Bodyline controversy (“Ashes of Bodyline episode still smoulder”, July 18th) contained one slight error. The inscription on the silver ashtray presented by Douglas Jardine to his fast bowler did not read “To a great bowler from a grateful captain”, but rather more appositely: “To Harold, For the ashes, from a grateful skipper”.
