Judicial Council Bill and accountability

Sir, – E Dillon (August 29th) is correct in stating that it is wrong not to name any judge who misbehaves while carrying out his or her job on the bench. It is because judges occupy such an important position in our society that this is all the more reason to name any person who deliberately abuses his or her position.

Not to do so will send a clear signal to other persons that they are quite safe if they misbehave and that they will not be exposed.

No wonder so many of our people have grown so cynical. – Yours, etc,

Co Kerry.
