Madam, - One day last week a Palestinian farmer took his wife and six children to the beach in Gaza. While having a picnic the farmer, his wife and five of his children, along with another person, were murdered when a shell launched from an Israeli gunboat exploded among them. One of the dead farmer's children survived as she had gone to swim as the explosion occurred.
This is the same Israel that lectures the world on the evils of terrorism yet time after time perpetrates appalling outrages against innocent civilians. Israel says it will "look into" the incident. In the hundreds of such incidents that Israel has "looked into" there has been but one prosecution of a military person and that one arose because an English family, whose unarmed son was shot in the back, refused to go away and stayed with their case until the very end.
Nothing will change for the Palestinians while EU diplomats and foreign ministers look solemn but do nothing. Why does Europe need food or other products from Israel if these goods are dyed red with the blood of innocent children?
While the member-states of the EU continues to turn a blind eye to these outrages the Israelis will continue to launch rockets and shells against innocent civilians and not worry one whit. All they need to do to keep everyone happy is to say they are "looking into" it. - Yours, etc,
