Sir, - Can it be only the tourists who are bewildered and vexed by the invasive plethora of signboards polluting the beauty of Ireland? Their exhortations are relentless; to buy, stay, visit, see, buy. Surely visitors come here for the traditional sweet serenity of Ireland.
How about a "County With Fewest Sign-Boards" competition in conjunction with Tidy Towns? And regulations on the width and weight of the mammoth, foreign double-decker tour buses swamping our narrow country lanes? Smaller buses on smaller roads, please. Fair's fair. - Yours, etc.,
