Madam, - I would be seriously surprised if this gets published but as an Australian I certainly feel compelled to attempt to offer my perspective on the recent International Rules series. I completely understand those of you in Ireland who have called for the International Rules to be scrapped.
If I saw my team demolished at their own game and realised that they might never win the series again, well there is no doubt that I would want it to stop.
Furthermore, if I too came to realise that many in my team were only good at starting fights, cowering away and then going off to mummy to cry about it, hey, I would be shouting "stop" from the rafters.
Let me be completely honest, I was not impressed by my captain's stupid and reckless challenge, but I would be less impressed by Joyce's little cry on RTÉ afterwards - but then again, considering O'Driscoll and Keane, crying is the only thing Irish captains seem to be good at. On a serious note, I too call on the GAA to pull out of the series; I suppose I am just sick of your whingeing. - Yours, etc,
CHRIS VEKIC, Stoneybatter, Dublin 7.
