Sir, - The article by Dean Victor Griffin "Children must learn together" (Rite and Reason, January 18th) was most impressive. His third paragraph deserves repetition in full:
"I am convinced that the most effective weapon against sectarianism is integrated schooling, all children together, a cause which surely is worthy of enthusiastic support from the churches in their commitment to reconciliation. It is a long process and it must begin, as we say, at the beginning, that is with the children."
The long process of integrated schooling which he describes does appear to be the most effective form of anti-sectarianism. Financial support from the EU or from Ireland and the UK is required to assist this form of schooling, it would seem. However, the benefits are so obvious and valuable that I feel it should be strongly encouraged at this time. - Yours, etc., Dr Catherine M. Molloy,
Hettyfield, Douglas, Cork.
