Do the residents of this locality have to suffer because the Government has failed to come up with a workable solution to our waste problem? The major problem with incinerators is that they churn out dioxins day after day. Who will monitor these dioxins? What effect will these have on our health in this area? "Let's sacrifice the few for the good of the many" seems to be the attitude.
Yes, incineration is an alternative, but it should be seen only as a last resort. When will we be able to meet the recycling targets set by the EU, if we can incinerate everything we throw away now? - Yours, etc.,
