Madam, - I wish to congratulate RTÉ for the recent "Hidden History" programme entitled Making Historywhich explored the ways in which Irish historians write and speak about our contested past. The contributors were a veritable who's who of famous commentators on diverse aspects of Irish history. Although it was a simple concept featuring a succession of "talking heads", it worked tremendously well as a means of providing the viewer with an insight into the different approaches taken by those featured in the programme to their chosen field of expertise. Particularly compelling for this viewer were the reflections offered by Ronan Fanning, Ciarán Brady, John A Murphy and Gerard Lyne. - Yours, etc,
