Sir, How easy it is for the Minister to feel he can ride rough shod over a largely female profession. For years he has dismissed submissions for a restructuring of our career to take into account the development of physiotherapists from purely care givers to practitioners.
He will soon discover that the expertise to plan, manage and implement preventative and rehabilitation programs for persons wishing to enter or return to productive work is not available in the public sector. Why should we give of our expertise and receive a pittance in return?
As a result of this dispute many more chartered physiotherapists will take their expertise to the private sector to the detriment, yet again, of those most vulnerable in our society. Yours. etc. B.Comm., M.I.S.C.R Clontarf, Dublin 3
