Sir, - I went to see Blythe Spirit at the Gate Theatre last Wednesday with two good friends, Roger and Siobhβn. I am diabetic and unfortunately got a weak turn at half time. I managed to consume a can of 7Up just in time.
Roger got up on the stage and in those memorable words asked the audience if there was a doctor in the house. There was, and he duly checked me out - for which, my sincerest thanks. In fact, the way everyone rallied round was heart-warming.
Siobhβn gave her name and phone number to Vincent, the front-of-house manager, who later kindly phoned to check that all was well. Not only that, but he offered us complimentary tickets to see the second half of the show next week. His generosity was much appreciated by all three of us and deserves a wider mention. - Yours, etc.,
