Madam, - Trócaire's Lenten campaign this year has the admirable goal of ending gender inequality in the developing world. Its, slogan, above the photograph of a baby girl, calls us to reflect that "she may never be given a chance simply because she's female".
Trócaire is an official agency of the Irish Catholic bishops. One may well ask when a girl will be given the chance to join their ranks, and those of deacons and priests? A long way to go for our slowly developing Church. . . - Yours, etc,
