Madam, – I think Joe Osborne is wrong to designate GAA players as “its most valuable assets” (July 11th). That would be true if it was a professional sport. GAA players are, however, voluntarily taking part in an amateur sport and are honoured to represent club or county. As Joe Osborne has said players “should not be out of pocket” but allocating a proportion of revenue to certain players seems to me to be well on the way to professionalism. – Yours, etc,
