Madam, – My wife and I left flowers last Monday at the Derrygimla bog landing site of one of the greatest flights of all time, Alcock and Brown’s first non-stop crossing of the Atlantic 90 years ago, on June 15th, 1919. Clifden Chamber of Commerce had staged a memorable air show the previous Saturday. It would be nice if in future they could also stage a brief annual ceremony at the monument to the two brave men who put Ireland on the world aviation map and opened up the Atlantic to everyman. – Yours, etc,
