Madam, - Vincent Browne (Opinion, March 2nd) writes disparagingly about the Fine Gael revival in fortunes. He quotes the Millward Brown/IMS polls since the last general election as evidence that the party has never bettered its 2002 result.
These polls have consistently underestimated Fine Gael support. Perhaps Mr. Browne failed to notice the last local and European election results, when Fine Gael increased its council seat tally substantially and won more seats than Fianna Fáil in the European Parliament, despite Millward Brown/IMS predicting huge losses in advance. - Yours, etc.,
Cllr TOM JOYCE, Churchlands, Sandyford, Dublin 18.
