Feeding Foxes

Sir, - David Wilkinson (April 10th) must have some super-foxes on his land in Co Meath. Being little larger than a terrier, a fox would not have the strength to take a baby away. Anybody who works at night in urban areas will tell you that foxes are quite common in towns and cities, where they are quite content to sleep by day and forage by night. If a man-eating fox were a likelihood we would no doubt have come across one by now.

It's scaremongering like this that leads to the extinction of harmless creatures. Foxes, badgers, hawks, kestrels, falcons, magpies and crows are destroyed because they have the neck to exist alongside homo "sapiens". - Yours, etc.,
