Fee-charging schools

Each year you publish a paean to private education and always praise without reservation “the huge sacrifice parents make”. They do not sacrifice. They choose how to allocate their resources and could choose differently. There are many fine, well-run, underfunded public schools. These would benefit from the active participation and input of such education-oriented parents.

The only sacrifice made is by the public, which continues to subsidise private schools. – Yours, etc,

ROSSA BUNWORTH,
