Sir, – I must agree with the sentiments of Colm O’Gorman of Amnesty International (September 2nd) insofar as there should be a constitutional right to healthcare for all. However, having carefully examined Bunreacht na hÉireann, I could not find where it offers the guarantee of protection to Irish banks. Yet the recapitalisation of these institutions seems to trump any form of human rights. Perhaps it is time we re-examine our priorities in favour of the greater population rather than continuously shovelling money into flawed businesses which benefit the few at the cost of the many. – Yours, etc,
