Dublin Port Tunnel

Madam, - The Dublin Port Tunnel project has proved a lesson too late for Marino residents.

Madam, - The Dublin Port Tunnel project has proved a lesson too late for Marino residents.

At first there were a lot of meetings and reassurances that our rights would be respected and that the inconvenience we would have to endure would be kept to a minimum. Instead the noise has been louder than we were led to believe - so much so the radiators and fittings in our houses are rattling. The noise goes on for longer than it is supposed to, sometimes up to 15 hours a day.

The Environmental Impact Statement specified the hours during which noise-generating work can take place. This condition has not been kept, as I and many other residents in Marino know too well.

Dublin City Council commissioned this work. It is ultimately responsible not only to make sure the work is done properly but also to make sure that the rights of the citizens of Marino are protected.
