Sir, - In his letter of (January 4th) concerning the Dublin Port Tunnel project, Mr John Little made a completely inaccurate and misleading statement concerning the site investigation.
Mr Little claimed that only two boreholes 600 m apart formed the basis of the understanding of ground conditions along Croydon Park Avenue. In fact a total of seven boreholes were drilled on the 400 m section of the proposed route encompassing Croydon Park Avenue where Mr. Little lives.
In addition a geophysical survey using non-drilling techniques was carried out to provide information on the ground conditions in between these boreholes.
As design consultants for Dublin Corporation on this project, we can assure Mr Little that the geological assessment is based on adequate site investigation information and appropriate expert analysis. - Yours, etc.,
Project Co-ordinator, GEOCONSULT-ARUP JV. 10 Wellington Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.
