Sir, - Has anyone considered "death on the forecourts"? The (ab)use of mobile phones when driving has been commented on before in the Letters page, but I saw a lady at a filling station in Kinsale placing her life, her child's life and the lives of everyone in the forecourt at risk as she chatted merrily away on her mobile phone while pumping petrol into her car.
Mobile phones are a source of ignition, and should not be used in areas where gases or vapours can produce an explosive medium. Petrol stations should display warning signs prominently - on pump handles, for example. - Yours, etc.,
Mark Waring, Kinsale, Co Cork.
