Sir, - It seems likely under strict interpretation of the serpentine mechanisms of Roman Catholic Canon Law that the consecration of Pat Buckley and Michael Cox as bishops, as well as the ordination of Sinead O'Connor as a priest, are all valid. By the same yardstick, the Vatican continues to challenge the validity of the ordination of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Surely the kind of legalism under which the Archbishop of Canterbury may not be a valid priest whereas Sinead O'Connor may be raises some questions. - Yours, etc.,
