Sir, - Having returned to spend Christmas in Dublin, I looked forward to a walk on Dun Laoghaire pier. I was appalled at the disgusting state of the West Pier due to the amount of fouling by dogs. It was not just a few instances, but every few steps.
There are signs up threatening fines, but these seem to be totally ignored. May I suggest the responsible authorities take measures to stop this problem? Maybe the only way to achieve this is to ban dogs from the pier. The present situation is highly dangerous to children. - Yours, etc.
