Sir, - The Arts Council is going through a period of change, which has stimulated a vigorous internal debate. A number of matters relating to the operations of the Council are being explored. However, the article headed "Arts Council meeting over `tensions' " (The Irish Times, October 9th) was inaccurate in two specific, substantial respects as they relate to the council. It is not true that the director, Patricia Quinn, advised an Arts Council meeting that a senior officer's recent resignation was for personal reasons. Nor has Ms Quinn ever offered to resign her position as director of the council. - Yours, etc.,
