Sir, - If just one over-the-limit driver per day leaves each of the 8,000 licensed premises in the country, that would mean a potential 8,000 violators on the roads per day, or 56,000 per week. Set against such a reasonable guesstimate, the actual quoted prosecution rate of only 160 per week is pathetic and totally unacceptable even if my guesstimate is out by a factor of 10! - Yours, etc., R.J.
