Cycling hazards on Rock Road

Madam, - All year round, I cycle to work between Rathmines and Blackrock

Madam, - All year round, I cycle to work between Rathmines and Blackrock. The current major works on Rock Road, which have made this journey even more perilous, prompts me to ask this question: Who will I annoy more - the motorist (who will not be able to pass me out, southbound anyway, if I go on the road) - or the pedestrians, if then I am forced onto the footpath?

In this day of ever-escalating oil prices, rising levels of greenhouse gas emissions from fuel combustion; and traffic gridlock due to car dependency, it beggars belief that cyclists should literally be pushed off the road. Why was there no provision made for cyclists in the planning of these works?

There is no available public transport to get me on time to work. I do not own a car (and do not want one). Where should I disappear to for the next year? - Yours, etc,
