Sir, - I am very encouraged to read (April 2nd), that Fianna Fail aims to develop 100 miles of cycle lanes annually for five years, and to reduce city centre parking spaces. This is a welcome change in policy, given that Fianna Fail Dublin City Councillors have consistently supported the construction of new (multi storey) car parks over the last few years, as for example when they voted overwhelmingly in favour of the Mansion House multi storey car park in December 1993.
I now look forward to Fianna Fail Councillors giving their full support to the construction of the badly needed cycle lanes, as recommended in the Dublin Transport Initiative's Report, in Dublin city. - Yours etc.,
