A chara, – As a farmer I was very disappointed to see the Government withdraw funding for Rural Environment Protection Scheme (Reps) 4. This seemed to be a highly unusual decision especially as the majority of the funding was received from the EU.
The question now is what happens to that EU money? Is it allocated to other member-states or will our Government still receive it? I suspect it is the latter and if this is the case I believe the distressed farmers can take at least some comfort that this money will be diverted to assist those who need it the most – our brethren who “planted houses” over the past three years. – Is mise,
