Sir, - At this stage in the game, it is surely time to call a spade a spade, and to remind those "democratic" unionists who will not sit down with "terrorists" in the Assembly, where those "terrorists" came from. They were spawned by a unionist government, which, during more than half a century of misrule, specialised in institutional discrimination, political gerrymandering, and total triumphalism of the worst kind. This government rode rough-shod over a spurned and despised second-class citizenry, in an artificially created and undemocratic statelet, set up as a matter of expediency to pacify and placate loudmouthed unionism.
The displays of "democracy" at Stormont and Glengall Street remind us that "the more things change the more they are the same". Sad, very sad. - Yours, etc.,
L. G. Kilgallen, Crosthwaite Park South, Dun Laoghaire.
