Madam, - I enjoyed Alison Healy's comments on being a pregnant commuter (Opinion, February 10) and am envious of Michael Andrews's experiences of courteous fellow passengers (Letters, February 16th).
As a pregnant woman who travelled daily on the 78A bus to work without once being offered a seat over nine months I finally caved in and requested a young and able-bodied passenger to give up his seat. He refused, telling me it would be bad for the baby to be so close to the smokers in the back seat. - Yours, etc., ELAINE SISSON, Kilmainham, Dublin 8.
